this is most labels...
No it isnt.
Most labels have at least 1 big artist that usually carries the rest - with ovo its Drake but Drake isnt a literal artist on the label.
Ovo is not a indie grassroots label. And its one of the biggest failures from a label of a known artists label, let alone the literal biggest Rapper.
Yes, most rapper owned labels dont do well overall or fall apart, but almost all of them (that were a serious imorint and not like a group name being called a "label") had one or two successful people.
The main excuse for ovo back in the day was that its too early, well its not early anymore. Its almost 15 years.
You're right, Drake didn't do anything for Party's career, my mistake.
You mean writing for rihanna like from the writer camp he was with before who manages his writings
I guess you know Party more than Party himself
And writing for someone still does nothing for his own career

Writing one of the biggest songs of 2016 did nothing for his career? Are you sure you're not trolling?

Drake releases through OVO...
But if we keepin it real I dont think the goal of OVO is to push the artists. Most of them that are signed are producers and songwriters who happen to want to release music as artist.

Here you go talking in circles again
Party has been connecting to Rihanna before Work and has done major songs before ovo
Being a writer is not being "put on". No one outside of interent nerds know who writes what. Which means it does nothing for him as a personal artist.
I did not say he was broke, of course Work paid if thats what youre hinting at, but that is not putting as an actual artist
Now when you can find actual backing for words youre saying then let me know. Because i actually have numbers, general audience engagement & Party himself that is saying the opposite of your personal opinion.
Unless you are PartyNextDoor.
push went from washed Coke rapper that is only relevant because of drake to a legend!!!
glad youโre maturing TML!!!
glad yall calling out that alt for being @thankmelater.

Going from a songwriter as Jahron B with no placements to signing with Drake and working with Rihanna, Travis, Beyonce, Kanye, SZA etc.
You're def right man, ya got me

He is the also the head - i mean he isnt a general artist that got aigned to it - its literally his imprint.
I agree to a degree, but also the artists are sold a lie then which is a whole seperate thing.
Drake could also have made a writers firm or a producer camp as well instead of fein label thats acting for aspiring artists.
I agree with it in the way Drake probably sees it, but i disagree on what the artists themselves thought what it was plus its still being labeled, well, a label. And it just looks bad as the biggest Rapper imo. If you didnt want a label and have responsibilities over careers in the lane of individual artists than he shouldnt have done one.
I think this idea or explanation would work if 90 percent of them werent upset. I just think people like Party and Majid stay because they also have other talents they can push themselves such as writing (party) and production (production) which keeps them living and busy while most of the others dont have that luxury or extra talent(s).

Yea agree for the most part. But I don't know what the artists really expected. OVO literally does nothing to even make you think its a label vs just a brand. You would never know these people were even on OVO if you didnt look at label credits on their music.

Hes written for people and done s*** like kidzbob before ovo and was with a writers camp/agency already so idk what youre talking about
Just like Frank Ocean before most knew him

Nigga said PND and Majid Jordan are huge because of writing credits lol
Yeah idk what bro rambling in circles about and he actung like he wasnt already connected ๐ ๐
He genuinely doesnt know what "put on" means

Vibe never recovered from that excessive d*** use as a yute ๐ด
Most support he ever gave Tory was for shooting Meg
actually mad he rode out for someone cos his d***sucking came off as flattery when he stole drake sound for years

Agreed. And i do agree some of the fault is on them too.
Only thing i can say is that if people do really-really want to leave I hope Drake makes it easy for them to-do so if it makes sense (like theyre not literally skipping out on undo duties or whatever).
A rappers label is always 50/50 you gotta be for sure youre situation is good or be a day 1 himie with the lead.

If you're talking about me I said PND, I just mentioned Majid when it came to that 2010s era of Toronto artists having buzz lol
I will shoot Drake some bail, I think he really tried to put on my Muslim brothers: Halal Gang. Hahaha but then they kinda ruined it for everyone.
"before most knew him"
Yeah and Franks writing isnt "put on" nor what people know him for ๐ ๐
