March 20, 2003, the United States began bombing Baghdad, calling for the start of the Iraq War.
By the end of the war, ~1 million innocent Iraqi civilians were killed, ~3.3 million Iraqi civilians were displaced.

    or
Congress is the only body that can legally declare war, which it has not done since WWII. So using this strict definition of war, our actions in Iraq (and Afghanistan) cannot legally be called a war.

Everything America did in Iraq would suggest it was indeed a war but to avoid literally using the world they say combat operations.

    • Violation Of International Sovereignty (especially under false pretense)
    • Funded literal terrorist

People were obviously blinded by the fact that the United States was attacked and thousands of people died. Not saying I agree with the war but I distinctly remember people being afraid to go literally anywhere after 9/11 so it’s pretty easy to understand why everyone was up in arms given the context of the situation

this. there were definitely people outspoken about the war, but the majority, especially in nyc, was at least somewhat supportive of it

i got let out of school early that day and remember seeing mad military on the BQE with assault rifles just standing there when i was walking home

imagine seeing that, knowing people that died in there, seeing the smoke from the towers invade your neighborhood

we were all ready to get in there and take them out

the probably wasn’t retaliating, the problem was we went after the wrong people and completely failed at our mission of stopping terrorism. we made it worse

That's a bad perspective to have, by your logic ppl of china, UK, Russia and iran should disgust you too. And there you go you now hate half the planet... congratulations you played yourself

Majority of ppl are held hostage and not responsible for their government's doings.. ppl get brainwashed by govt propoganda.. instead of spreading hate we need to educate
