I was wondering why they ran it through AI and what kind of prompt they were using.
It's obviously not a plain old upscale because Bushwick Bill's quote is duplicated and Kid Capri's name is erased, and AI would never f*** an image up that bad just trying to increase the resolution.
If you compare the images side-by-side you will see that there are 2 new changes that look like they were deliberately inserted in the image by whoever wrote the AI prompt, rather than AI hallucinations:
1. Russell Simmons' original quote about needing more emotion and diversity in hip-hop has been changed to one decrying labels' greed.
2. Doug E. Fresh's original quote about needing more diversity outside of gangsta rap stories has been changed to a broader call for 'more positivity'.
Very interesting. What do we think the purpose of these changes were, pushing some kind of pro-gangsta rap historical revisionism? But Crazy Legs' quote, the most direct condemnation of gangsta rap, wasn't rewritten, just mangled by AI, presumably as an unintentional consequence of the changes the prompter made.
Nas so real.
It’s crazy I was listening to We Major yesterday
That line he said about building his own Motown bc rappers can’t record exec jobs had me thinking about the Legend Has It series he did with Mass Appeal
Nas always showing love to the OGs
