as you said about past signings, Chicago just doesn't seem to be a destination. I agree with booz, it's more about the quality of life than the size of the market. stars can easily market themselves with the internet now. so it's just LA, NYC as the biggest cities and then Miami because of the weather and no income tax

as for the history, people don't really care about that anymore and almost every star besides Kobe mentioned they wouldn't want to live in Jordan's shadow

so if you're outside those three cities, you either build your team through acquiring lower tier all stars or getting lucky in the draft. can't fault AK for choosing the former

Miami was only a destination teams because they had stars there already who were friends. Outside of melo knicks never got anyone, nets only got harden and KD because kyrie was there. warriors only got KD because of the players already there. Lakers are the only only team that doesn’t require superstar talent to recruit other superstar talent.

Don't feel its a fair assumption to say KD joined BK just because Kyrie was there unless he explicitly says it. Such a big decision to make just because 1 guy is there.
