don't want to defend him too much, but it's out of context, firstly, this clip precedes the abortion situation by over a month: washingtonpost.com/politics/2022/03/22/braun-supreme-court-interracial-marriage (use 12ft.io to pass the paywall lol)
the actual interviewer was asking the question about the context of RvW's original passing, and he was saying that he felt that the SC making a decision on it in the first place was contradictory because of the idea of what should/shouldn't be weighed in on being arbitrary. It's very weak reasoning for sure, but he wasn't really saying he wanted interracial marriage outlawed, he was saying you can't say the courts should only rule on some issues but just decide others are too sacred, especially if you assume the original decision was fine but the new decision isn't simply because you know disagree. Not the hill I would die on for this issue but that's what happens when you're a politician and have to die on the hill of whatever the new hotness is

But he did explicitly state he wanted basically the reversal of it so that the states decide. The only way SC would strike down Loving vs Virginia though is if a state was stupid enough to enact a law against interracial marriage. Surely they know the riots that would cause. I think Obergefell v Hodges is more at risk currently to state the obvious.

he gave a really bad answer on it but i think the context to it is important, i think it'd be a bit different if he came out and just explicitly said something like it was on the chopping block now that RvW is done, esp. since he was pontificating on it before it was even remotely confirmed something like that would happen. given he issued a statement basically apologizing within 2 hours of saying it i'll give him at least somewhat of the benefit of the doubt. i would lean more towards agreeing with Obergefell being at risk, I don't think much else is.
