Even PS1 lol, it too sold over 100mil while N64 was struggling to break 40mil.

Sony has always been the top, & ive personally never been a "fanboy" of them until PS4, but their sales hugely outpace anything since the beginning for home consoles.

Only the PS3 wasnt a blow out with the Wii dominating, & that's because they f***ed up its debut release & its first few years, but it still managed to inch past the 360 towards the end, & then smash everything again this gen.

I remember watching this a while ago

I collect across all PS systems & I still don’t understand how people even try to go here. One thing about Sony is they WILL get you. Whether its out the gate or late in the generation.

Apple might try to join the gaming race tho in some way. Wether a full blown console or some kind of full blown service like Stadia & Game Pass.

Feel they're dipping their toe with Apple Arcade rn to test the waters.

    I’d welcome it.

NES it’s the more dominant console ever and SNES while not NES levels of dominance it still dominanted. Also 3ds selling 10 times more than PS Vita

No offense bro but the NES and SNES are before the 5th gen consoles. 5th gen was the debut of the PS1, N64 & Sega Saturn. Sony owned 47% of the market shares. The rest split by others. I don’t need to say how well the PS1 performed. Then next gen, the PS2 LMAO you know better. The PS3 was just spoke of. The PS4 has continued their dominance with 103 Million units and counting sold lol

Sony owns 5 of the top 10 selling consoles handheld or home of all time. 3 of the top 5. It’s not really up for debate.

If nitpicking Sony’s handheld console(s) while we’re talking home consoles is the best you can come up with the 🥱

Nintendo is the only player in the handheld arena. Why would we even bring that up.

It’s the only player of the handhelds market because Sony/Sega failure .And the Switch it’s catching PS4 sales . Sony has only dominated with the PS1/PS2 and PS4 before switch release . The NES would sold more than the PS1 if it wasn’t because less gaming wasn’t as huge at the time

The PSP is #10 all time. Lmao Idk if thats a failure. The vita failed as a companion for the PS4. You say ONLY Dominated with 3 systems. Lmao 3 of the best all time? “Only”?

I’m not talking about what if scenarios. Your what if scenario has to cover 40+ million more systems to compete with the PS1 lol

    The switch lmao

    First Take

NES & SNES are not the most dominating lol. What do you mean? Its not even Nintendo's best. If you mean they were the best in their gens, well yeah, but Sony didn't exist yet in the console space lol so that doesn't matter in terms of my point. When Sony came into the scene, it hugely dominated everything.

And no duh, Nintendo has always been #1 with the exclusive handheld market. The DS & Game boy lines have outsold everything except the PS2. That's why I said home console, & the Switch is mainly considered a home console too along with home console prices. Home console exclusively top 3 are all Sony consoles (PS2, PS4 & PS1) with the Wii in 4th. The OG PSP still managed to hit 80mill.

Vita still outsold Wii U as well, but that's a whole different story. Wii U had a lot of mess ups from Nintendo themselves, mainly marketing. And I don't think consoles should be compared to handhelds & vice versa in sales or performance.

Home consoles have been dominated sales wise by Sony since it's inception aside from Wii, but the PS3 still did amazing that gen too.

Nintendo outside of handhelds hasn't been doing great besides Wii & Switch ever since Sony joined in. Even the GameCube was outsold by the OG Xbox & put in last place (besides the Dreamcast if you count that).

I do think Nintendo will now have competing numbers now since the Switch has renewed market interest, but overall Sony is still going to outsell everything 4 times out of 5 imo if they just continue their focus on strictly games like how they're doing.

    Vita 2 coming so soon

  • Jan 9, 2020

sony of course lol, unless they somehow f*** it up which I doubt

nintendo will continue to do well in their own lane and Xbox will continue to falter, I think this will be their worst gen yet

Not giving Nintendo another dollar for hardware that can barely out perform a toaster. Hopefully they will develop great games that I can play on great hardware

    Here is my take.

Xbox - is killing it with Gamepass. I love it. It's not pricey getting the ultimate is 2 birds with one stone, it's good for playing games I skipped out on or couldn't afford. But the problem is still what it's always been with microsoft. They dont have s*** for first party. Halo is my favorite FPS but releasing new Halo, Gears, Forza has overstayed its welcome.

Sony - killed it this gen period.... I guess. They made great exclusives that are good for playing through one time and never touching gain, i'm not for all the cinematic bullshit. A polished turd is still a turd. Game can look beautiful, but is it FUN? does it have REPLAY VALUE? My biggest issue.

    Stadia -.

Nintendo - Has me right now. Is the Switch pretty much a port machine? Absolutely. But my favorite genre outside of fighting games is JRPGS which it is a haven for. Nintendo exclusives are always fun and full of replay value. I enjoy everything about my Switch.. The problem? Where do they go from here? Dont get me wrong I can play my favorite Ps2 gen games forever, they port them and I play them. But there needs to be more. Idc about graphical power when I'm having fun.

My prediction is Microsoft makes a potential 180. Gamepass is a start to that. Sony is way too bigheaded right now and it will be their demise. Nintendo is doing great there just needs to be something more.

Because most Nintendo games aren't built in the way you need a super power console

Like you don't need top of the line specs to play Pokemon

It will always be Nintendo and PlayStation because of the top tier exclusive games they get

    I don't think so

Games are what matter at the most and Nintendo has Mario, Zelda and Pokemon lol

Plus Nintendo is reportedly been working on a more spec savvy follow up this year

I can see Apple going after Stadia or maybe dipping their toes in the VR wars... But consoles? Doesn't really seem like a benefit to them

Which is totally fine. Now why should I pay $200+ for a piece of s*** toaster that has zero economic value outside of being a required conduit to play exclusively licensed games instead of being able to play those games on ps4, pc, Xbox etc hardware that people pay substantial sums of money for to render and play video games and actually have intrinsic value as hardware devices.

    Nintendo hardware is a racket
