Feb 3·4 repliesLooks like the Grammys are finally getting better for hiphop maybe even for the general categories. Seems like the voting pool is slowly changing. Last year Killer Mike swept all the rap categories. This year Kendrick rightfully won BMV over Taylor and won SOTY/ROTY.
Rapsody also won a Grammy in rap category and Doechii beat Em (which would’ve been impossible 5 yrs ago).
Beyonce finally got AOTY and Tommy Richman didn’t get a single nomination which shows things are falling into place.
Hopefully more OGs get their flowers too just like Killer Mike. If they fix the voting panel the Grammys might actually be worth watching. For hiphop, at least 95% of voters should be black and part of the culture.
Hiphop has been overlooked for too long but that’s shifting now (maybe)? Now we just need a rap album to win AOTY.
