Yeah the reality is Bad Bunny is a nigga who came up off latin trap a offshoot of black American Hip Hop sun genres and got an AOTY before any of the originators ever got nominated and that's very crazy even if you're happy for him.

Hip Hop had its biggest most influential, commercial,acclaimed era without ever getting an AOTY and likely never will because frankly Hip Hop as a genre is on a decline in all those regards.

Hip Hop essentially hit one of the biggest peaks any genre has had since R&B in the early 1900s and and hit its decline with no AOTY wins.

The academy chooses the albums that win awards. I wanted clipse to win and I’m annoyed that a rap album didn’t get to win a Grammy in a rare time where 3 rap albums are nominated. Sue me lol

It’s between a rock and a hard place: perfect for being loved by the world, but the lack of melody makes it that much harder to be truly four quadrant with just pure rap to the eyes of typical grammy voters, and because of racism it’ll never be seen as more artful than other nominees are artful or four quadrant. This is why the only rap AOTY winners are so melodic presenting first, and also more artful than the average pop crossover release. Basically, a straight rap release would have to be as four quadrant in pure rap hits as GRODT and Grad, but also as artful as a TPAB (which didn’t even win), Miseducation and Love Below

As it stands, rap’s most realistic chance is having the perfect story, most critical acclaim and the biggest album at once in the perfect moment it’s nominated
