Hate to be a downer for rap but if rap doesn’t win an AOTY in the next 5 years (most likely from a legacy act who debut pre 2012) then it may never happen again with the current gen artists killing rap as a creative and critically acclaimed genre

I just don't understand everybody putting their whole chips on this dot album to win and it wasn't even his best (it's not better than TPAB and that didn't get it). Just feels like Bad Bunny had to snatch this one. Stakes were higher for him

I think that final sentence is really the baffling one . So many just wanted them to give it to gnx or clipse because they don’t think it’s possible for the rest of our lives. When artist make great rap albums ever single year . Do Kendrick and Pharrell play the politics to the level many of you think are needed to win ? Yes . Bad bunny 100% deserved it and hip hop is certified Grammy or not . I personally think a well written concept conscious album with hits has best chance . Do people care if something is conscious anymore or has a story throughout whole album ? I don’t know
