Steven’s is an unreal person
Idk. It feels like the left populism movement still hasn’t found strong cross over appeal yet so I’m worried about all of their races not just the primaries
I feel the same way. I do think more left populists will win this cycle than ever before, but it's still an uphill battle. Candidates like Stevens and Becerra have the Democratic establishment behind them and it's tough to beat that.
For any other fellow Californians itt, make sure to vote Oliver Ma for Lt. Governor! Haven't seen a whole lot of coverage on him but he's one of the few people running for state office this cycle that openly denounces israeli genocide and calls for the abolition of ice full stop
Forgot if I said this already, but I voted for him because of you!
f*** xavier becerra
f*** spencer pratt
cali and la please don’t let me down
The fact that Pratt is even taken seriously is disgusting, dude is more openly racist than Trump

i can somewhat understand why ppl entertained rick caruso, but the idea of handing over the city budget to spencer pratt is just so nonsensical
Hope Hamawy pulls it off in NJ 12
He won
Now that I finally have a real industry job I’m moving tf out of California first chance I get
Becerra is absolute dogshit

honestly as a resident of LA, i think he's gonna win. Bass is basically doing what Hilary did to Trump in 2016 and she's going to underestimate 1. how much LA actually hates her, and 2. what a charged political base can actually do.
My only sane hope was for Nithiya but things didn't pan out that way

The specific city of LA is a much tougher hill to climb for the GOP than the whole general US electorate across all 50 states (not to mention factoring in the electoral college, which is not a thing in the la mayoral race)

are you from LA?
cause we had the biggest urban fire in history last year and part of the reason Bass is having such a hard time in this race in general was her mismanagement of that.
i'm not sure if you think i'm advocating for pratt (which i'm not) i'm just saying that this is the exact playbook that was used in 2016 to squash trump and it didn't work.
Bass is top to bottom an unattractive candidate, things have gotten substantively worse during her administration (a lot of which is her doing) and she she's offering more of the same during this second run.
I think underestimating a fringe republican candidate is a very dangerous proposition politically, and i'm pretty sure atp history would back that assertion.

i think we're just post-cogency in a lot of respects. people feel strongly, and that feeling overrides their political acumen

I’m from OC and work in LA, I understand she’s a bad candidate but again you comping the 2016 general election to an LA only election is silly. LA voters are way more partisan than the Midwest voters in 2016 that gave Trump the win.
I get the essence of what you’re saying and I agree that she’s a flawed candidate (I was certainly hoping Nithya would win too), but the fact that Bass is looking like she’s going to get 1st place in round 1 when Nithya is taking some of her vote share tells you all you need to know about how the run off is going to go.

AOC being silent on Graham Platner is EXTREMELY ironic given that she was the person who just made a statement a few weeks ago about how her ambitions are much more deep than her own political career, and this move (or lack thereof) smells extremely like business as usual saving face so she can run for higher office
