I think leftie commentators always set us up to believe the left will smoke but I forget we’re in a insulated bubble with that stuff
There’s no question that this result is pretty damn disappointing. But not surprising.
When your voter base is young people from Gen Z in a non-presidential election year, you’re going to have people that will say they are voting for AES in polling, but then be too damn lazy to get off the couch and vote.
Ngl, this doesn’t bode super well for the General Election
I think leftie commentators always set us up to believe the left will smoke but I forget we’re in a insulated bubble with that stuff
I think it hammers home that good messaging and its ramifications in voting patterns are really secondary to establishment allegiances
And that’s a big table to shake

this election is done, but nbc lowk just called it cuz they had to get ready for the today show LOL
Goddamn it was close

Both sides are echo chambers
The future is independents or third party
I think I’m gonna remember Mallory McMorrow forever. What a creep
Tbh without her staying in as long as she did, it seems almost certain that Stevens would’ve had a comfortable win.
Likely a big enough margin of McMorrow voters went to Stevens and all of the endorsements from Dem insiders like Whitmer would’ve come earlier in the race.
My main takeaway from this race is that it is very bearish for progressives in the 2028 Presidential Primary.
When I saw the polls that said AES was on track for a double digit win, I thought that was great news for 2028. I think that Michigan is probably the second most progressive state (after New Hampshire) of the 6 early voting states on the new 2028 primary calendar, and maybe the most delegates. So I thought a decisive win for a progressive would be fantastic news in that regard.
But this result makes it seem like 2028s primary in Michigan is going to be razor thin.
