Reasonable Doubt
4:44/The Blueprint
The Black Album
Vol 1/American Gangster
If we're gonna call it the Gold standard for good albums made by rappers who should be passed their prime, maybe. If that's how you wanna sneak it into the classic discussion.
But in the context of Jay-Z's own discography, I dont think it holds the same weight as The Blueprint or even a Vol 1 if we're strictly talking impact and influence
A rapper finding his/hers prime again, letting go of who they were, letting go of pretending to be on the same page as the new kids and ageing with grace.

Nah b.
4:44 is not the same caliber as The Blueprint.
And Reasonable Doubt isnt his best album.

That's my personal ranking b
Nope, A Written Testimony has his best raps, even though hes only heavily featured on that album

that's a 10000000000000 celsius take
that's a 10000000000000 celsius take
where would you rank his raps on it? I could put Reasonable Doubt, AWT, and possibly 4:44 as equal
if 4:44 had a better
cover art i might go
to bat for it more
dunno what hov was
thinking with that one
coulda been his GOAT cover
No but it’s top 4, a classic and close to being a masterpiece
RD, BP and especially TBA are all better
Nope, A Written Testimony has his best raps, even though hes only heavily featured on that album
Definitely not but he was entering a new level on that album.
I can't wait to see what Hov does next.
u guys should know better than to call everything u like a classic or is the word classic being used ironically alot i dont get it
Don’t agree personally but thinks it’s a valid take tbh, know im setting myself up for disappointment here but given the combo of 4:44 and AWT part of me feels like his next could be his best
