The writing on Buzzcut Season
One of the great electro-pop records of our time..
not with that trash royals song it ain’t
Go to hell for real
“Melodrama is a real album” man gtfo lmao
So is Dawn FM, so is What’s Your Pleasure, so is Pop 2, Emotion, etc
You don't get it
See the fact you're comparing those albums to Melodrama is exactly my point
Every album there is a goal in mind for the artist, (something they are set out to accomplish) and this is my point: just because Lorde chose the medium of the "pop" label to express her relationship story does not mean you can compare that to the Weeknd's fictitious tales of entertainment on Dawn FM...
Here is another relevant point: lets take the album "Ghost Stories" by Coldplay: one of the BIGGEST "pop" groups of all time, the album itself is classified as "pop". Now THIS album is more comparable to Melodrama, in the fact that the artist, Chris Martin, had a similar goal with the project to Lorde: to tell the story of his broken relationship.
And the irony is that sure, this album (Ghost Stories) has a few "pop" songs on it, with the pianos, and acoustics, but the majority of the album is more ambient and electronic. This is why blatant genre labeling to me is dismissive, unless you are REALLY paying attention to the sonic expression of the artist, in every sense. I prefer to view the goal of the art: what is the point?

Go to hell for real
you f*** off to hell with bundy and that trash ass racist song c***. awful stuttering beat that’s limp as hell and those wooden vocals yaaaawwn
no grown ass mfs really listening to tracks like Homemade Dynamite and saying “yeah this s*** hard”
Idk about grammatically but it’s definitely factually incorrect
Coincidentally listened to this yesterday on the 5th year anniversary without realizing it lol
Yeah and it’s still f***ing crazy man
Not a wasted breath on here
And while I’m still very iffy on Ella after last year, Melodrama will always stand as her opus and one of the best of the last decade
Melodrama sucks so f***ing bad lmfao Supercut is the only good song
Show me any song in the same realm and I’ll pick a weak track from Melodrama and I can guarantee it’ll be better production wise and songwriting.
Honestly haven’t returned to this since release, fairly mediocre imo.
