This is dope. The first one has a dope like 50’s/60’s sound to it. I think that sound in a modern format hasn’t really been explored the way it should, kind of reminds me of Bambi by Jidenna. The second track sounds like some cookout s***

I wonder how that first track would sound with something more like trap drums instead of the more traditional boom bap kind of sound

"Good girl" is literally just a loop, an uninteresting one at that. "Melodican" is better, has a very nice jazz-vibe to it. Not sure how much you are actually contributing to the instrumental, though - as it sounds like it is ALL samples, with drums that also sound like they were sampled. You need to work on actually being a composer, and not being "Oh, this sound cool - let me just sample 1 minute of it and call it MY WORK".

I'm just going by what it sounds like to me. I'm not doubting that you put a lot more effort than that, but (to my ears at least) they did sound like one big sample. I'm happy to hear that the drums weren't sampled, because they are nice. Maybe you need to add more diversity (in terms of sonics) into your instrumentals, in order to help the listeners to be able distinguish between what is sampled and what isn't. Just my opinion, though.

I’ve been abusing some Metro Boomin/Lex Luger kits but I don’t have the links anymore. Think I just found them from reddit though

The drums you have on them now are dope and fit the beat perfect, I was just imaging trap drums and thinking it would make it sound more unique

Feel you bro, appreciate you spending time to formulate any opinion on my music, that's RARE

I struggle with layering on top of a sample while keeping the song from sounding muddy, like i can't preserve the cleanliness as I layer on top of a sample. I think it's a mixing issue (I'm a mixing novice) and like you said, need to widen my sonic palette. Easier said than done..

BUMP because I'm a huge Ye fan (tough times rn, lets not get into it) and he and I basically came up with the same art concept at the same time

been meaning to post this. the night I dropped these tracks I made the cover art in sketch, I had this concept in mind, a 'heaven planet' like maybe a planet that was 'just sky'. made a few versions I picked from

a week and a half later, Ye starts westdayever with the gap announcement and the updates to his website and twitter, this is the core concept art:

pretty hype idgaf about the ye controversy, I say he saw it and thought it was dope and stole it
