From what I understand, Jay Z had some deal with the NFL that allowed him to handle what musical acts they get for their Super Bowl Half Time shows. Pretty much he's the guy with the connections who can make the calls to artists since the NFL's reputation with Black players and coaches has been in the toilet over the last some years which might make some Black artists less willing to work with them.

That being said, I'm pretty sure it was Dr Dre who said who he'd want to perform with, and if him and Eminem both wanted 50 Cent to be there it was gonna happen whether Jay Z wanted it or not. I don't think Jay Z really has much of an issue with 50 Cent these days, but any chance he can get to be petty towards 50 he will try it because 50 stays talking s*** about him lol
