50’s highs were way higher of course but i can’t say that having a 15 year platinum/gold rap career at 29-30+ after you got exposed for essentially being a cop as an embellished coke dealer rapper is going out sad lol. Ross killed off 50 persona of being this career killer. Its like if Kendrick tries to do this to Boston Richey or Gunna and they walk away career unfazed

This is gonna sound dumb but I feel like NLU has done more to dead this narrative more than anything. Before if somebody said that Drake was a pdf most normal people were like “Wait what? I’ve never heard this” and take it somewhat seriously. Plus it was really only ever talked about by people that legitimately believed it.

But now everybody has heard it and most people I interact with just look at it as jokes and rap beef. Like Jay being 33 in a karate class. Feels like people don’t take it or talk about it as seriously as they did before. It’s like any conspiracy theory really, once it reaches a really wide audience people just start to view it as silly and ridiculous. Something that seems very serious while whispered just does not hold up when thrust into the light

I mean, there's always gonna be the conspiracy theory nuts who will watch clips put together by other conspiracy nuts based on absolutely nothing to further their believes that Drake dates and f***s teenagers but for people who can still think logically when it comes to Drake, all these months and years passing without anybody coming out to accuse him of any weirdo behavior (and even more than that, all the women who were being associated with him for doing weird s*** coming out to deny that they ever had an inappropriate relationship with him), it's killed any belief of there being any truth to that s***.

The fact that there's some people still going down every delusional rabbit role they can find in the hopes that they'll turn up some nasty Drake tea is proof that some people have always hated him and were always going to jump on any nasty rumors put out there about him, regardless of whether they were true or not.

I don't believe this beef has affected his career negatively in any real way and I think as long as people are still obsessed with every little thing Drake does or doesn't do and his music still has motion, he'll be fine.

Ross survived that beef because of 2 reasons.

50 was done with music by 09.
And Ross aligned himself with Puff who created a whole new persona for him. Ross would've been another rapper from Florida that had a good 2-3 year run if he hadn't gone to Puff.

Ross's career basically became no different from 50's post BISD career after 2014. He had records after that but nowhere near his 06-14 run just like how "I'm The Man" and "Big Rich Town" aren't factored into 50's run.

So, you're basically comparing a 2002-2009 run to a 2006-2014 run. That's not really the "gap" you think it is especially when 50 technically had semi-hits in the late 90's and was supposed to drop POTD in 2000.

Also, 50 slowed down his output in favor of TV while Ross continued to try to stay prolific and drop more projects.

Like someone said, too, 50 had better disses and Ross becoming an industry darling, landing some of the hottest features in the industry like Khaled, Drake, Kanye, Jay, Meek, French, Wayne, etc. played a major role in Ross staying hot during his prime run. And niggas even pointed that out after Money In the Grave got a billion streams.

50 went independent, had limited budgets, and severed ties with Interscope while dropping less music. So, it's apples and oranges.
