My take as well
I wholeheartedly can't remember any mainstream rap releases this year besides Trav, Drake, and Ken Carson if that counts
Underground was ferocious this year and outside of hip hop was fantastic. Country lowkey might be genre of the year
Yeah and only Trav in that list you mentioned fully delivered to me. FATD def grew on me but I enjoyed his work in 2022 way more. Carson joint is cool but it can be repetitive. Uzi had some fire but son bloated the hell out of that tracklist man.
My favorite rap album this year is still The Great Escape by Larry x Alch tbh
Top 10 albums/projects this year for me are (in no order)
The Great Escape - Larry x Alch
Mid Air - Romy
Let’s Start Here - Yachty
Dirty Harry - El Cousteau
Voir Dore - Earl x Alch
Ganger - Veeze
Utopia - Travis Scott
Ooh I Rap Ya- George Clanton
Playing Robots into Heaven - James Blake
Lahai - Sampha
HM: Fuse - Everything but the Girl
Summer Breeze - Tay Iwar
Obsidian - Naomi Sharon

lol forgot about Uzi tbh, which is weird because I've been bumping Just Wanna Rock a lot lately
A lot of incredible music dropped actually. Yall can continue calling everything trash after one listen
so many on here jaded

I feel like it was only Q3 that was great imo and I don’t expect any huge change in Q4
This has been my favorite year for music in quite some time actually
Just need to expand your horizons a bit imo and can find plenty of good s***

favorite year for music since 2016 tbh
That year was dirt lmao
2000s were great overall but those last two years left a real sour taste in my mouth lol
Wasn’t supposed to say this but a surprise 2Pac and Biggie collab album is dropping in December
2020 - 2022 was amazing looking back. Definitely was a return to form after the lackluster years of 2018-2019.
favorite year for music since 2016 tbh
I'd say since 2017 for me
I've kind of rediscovered my extreme love for music this year, obviously loved it all along but I got my master's in music and started working professional in music over the last few years and was around it so much that I got a little bit sick of it, but this year I've been back of my s*** of actively looking to discover new music regularly and expanding my horizons a bit and it's been beautiful

Adding to my own post I kind of credit switching from Apple to Spotify for a lot of this, I've found Spotify to be amazing for discovering music and also the way you can make playlists with recommended songs is amazing
I was hardcore pro-Apple Music until this year too

Scaring The Hoes and Sunburn are both all timers for me, both better than anything from 2021 or 2022 to me

Did you have a way to bring your library to Spotify? That’s the only thing holding me back from switching
