the point i've been trying to make in this thread is that for general-deterrent reasons he will be protected in a manner beyond what others will generally receive. this has nothing to do with the law per se but rather with political reasons.

the inclination to co-operate with the government depends on how well protected snitches are basically, and the more well known the snitch is, the more the government will look to protect that snitch, especially if that snitch helped on a (federal!) rico act charge
