Alright before you flame me and crack jokes i’m genuinely just curious about this and this album. I noticed ever since that 5 year anniversary merch drop hit his site the praise for this album has been through the roof. Including everything he put up on Twitter and IG. Why now all the sudden when before it was hardly talked about?

I just listened to it back again today and still feel the same way about it. I enjoy it but isn’t my favorite by him and out of 10 it’s a 6 for me. Seems like every song drags on too long ranging from 4-7 minutes at times. Isn’t a bad thing I just feel like for an album with 12 tracks it isn’t ideal. His performance is perfectly fine as always I just have my minor gripes with it.

Not trying to harp on this album or anybody who likes it I just genuinely don’t see the hype behind it and I like everything else he’s put out this just happens to be my least favorite.

His first studio album, it floping made TW depressed and had to rethink his approach for albums. Then he did the Ariana Grande collab, it became his first mainstream hit and there was no turning back.

Well that’s a shame i’m glad it is getting it’s flowers now (even though I feel like some of it is bandwagon.) I do like it i’m not saying it is terrible it’s a vibe for sure. Just compared to everything else hell even his 3 tapes before Kissland it’s just alright to me imo.

The reason why this random resurgence is such a big deal is because he literally has not (aside from 5 year merch) acknowledged Kiss Land as an album really at all since it was released. He never played any Kiss Land tracks at shows, never posted about it online, etc.

I forgot about that too didn’t take that into consideration. He never even did Live For like with Drake at all? Figured that would of been one he would of done at least. Probably was just always Crew Love anyways. I’ll have to keep listening to it and maybe i’ll change my mind.

He did mentioned that Kiss Land was the only album he would consider doing a sequel to in his interview right after Starboy released.

Kiss Land is probably my 2nd most favorite project from him because imo it's probably his best project in terms of songwriting, it has a consistent theme, great aesthetic, and overall the production is insanely atmospheric.

So to see him give this much deserved love to this album is great.

3-7 is an amazing run of tracks and I enjoy the rest of the tracks

It was ahead of its time, niggas didn't realize it til years later especially considering what he dropped after it

Honestly one of the best albums I’ve ever heard

Have to listen to it more but I enjoy a massive amount of it now just like 3-4 tracks haven’t grown on me yet

Which ones in particular?

Professional, The Town, Kiss Land, & Pretty they are just alright to me kinda lackluster
