I like Corenswet as Superman! This benefits from strong casting all around - Hoult, Brosnahan, Gathegi, Merced, Pruitt Taylor Vince - but Gunn’s tonal juggling act falls apart midway through and never fully recovers. I could accept this ugly, garish movie as a live action cartoon for children if it didn’t get extremely dark in ways that feel like a breach of contract for this character in particular. So rating it as a movie for adults, I can’t stand the dog stuff, I can’t stand the Guardians of the Galaxy video game sidequest with the hideous green baby, and Superman had no coherent arc.

Also, interesting to pull plot points wholesale from both “Invincible” and “The Boys” (comic at least). Knowing reconstructionist absorption, or derivative?
