Idk man I feel like it's entirely possible to separate what you personally like most and what is actually better objectively as possible. For example, I've listened to Drake way more and personally like him over Kendrick but I wouldn't say he is better than him.

In rap specifically: Kendrick strengths lie more in story telling vs drake being more quotable lyricist, more witty . Better feature verses. Maybe overall better sing writer. Kendrick strong on a purely technical level at times 🤷🏾‍♂️

Your personal greatest of all time should reflect what you like the most. Better than people doing fake generic lists based on what others like

I honestly didn't see that it said his favorite I thought it said who he thought was the GOATs but I don't believe that there is "no" objectivity in art. There has to be some or else how else would certain art get praised over others. If there was none any horrible artist who have made their art with no effort can compete with artists who actually spend hours a day for years honing their craft.

Just because he is better at somethings doesn't mean he is better overall. I do agree your personal GOAT list should reflect what you like as well of course but there has to be some objectivity or else it's just a list of your favorite artists which is what I didn't know that's Trippie's list was. When talking about why you like art there's not really any objective measure for what's "better" because that's an arbitrary concept, everyone will have a different "better" but what you think is better matters just like mine.

Time spent on art doesn't reflect the quality, artists like Sia spend 10 minutes or an hour on her songs and Young Thug freestyles until he can't anymore. I'm not trying to be mean but you should look into how art is made and understand every person has a unique process for making it.

I don't have any specific examples but it's possible to make something beautiful in seconds or minutes and it turns out better than a Kendrick Lamar song for some people. A lot of great artists actually work under crunch to meet deadlines and they end up releasing great games, movies, albums.

We aren't talking about the same thing. You are talking about the time taken to CREATE the art. I am talking about the time taken to increase your SKILL at it. I am fully aware some people can create songs sometimes in 10 minutes to an hour versus someone who mostly needs to spend hours, days or even weeks but still if they are good I bet both of them spend years getting good at songwriting.

Yeah I don't believe that. If someone knows more about a subject their opinion matters more on it. Could the person with less knowledge come up with a better opinion on it from time to time with their unique prospective on it? Of course but overall the person who is more knowledgeable on it should definitely have a more weighted opinion on it.

I just personally think subjectivity and objectivity exists in art. Obviously subjectivity more than objectivity matters in art given it's nature but art isn't just art it's a skill so naturally people are objectivity better at it and make better art than others. It's entirely possible for a separation of what you think subjectively and objectively is the best.

Also, it can simply be preference. Aretha Franklin makes better music than Brent Faiyaz. Brent is just more my vibe because i find myself in situations where i can use his music more. I'm not gonna smoke to aretha franklin or f*** a girl to her. I'm going to do that for Brent.

Just because it's "worse" doesn't mean the qualities it has couldn't appeal to you more than something that is better. I don't understand how this is such a hard concept to understand.

For example, Rapper A could do almost everything better than Rapper B (Wordplay, Songwriting, Lyricism, Story Telling, Punchline, etc) but what if Rapper B just talks about things that appeal more to you on a personal level? S*** that is more relatable to you. Maybe Rapper B does some melodic rapping or trap rap and you really like that type of rap but Rapper A doesn't do any of that.

So you may know that Rapper A objectively is better than Rapper B but because Rapper B has more qualities you personally like you would listen to them more wouldn't you? This really isn't that hard man.

Black Thought is objectively way better at wordplay, story telling, and lyricism overall than Lil Uzi Vert like in what world could that ever be subjective. In what world is Uzi a better rapper than Black Thought. It's just a fact that if you compare their lyrics Black Thought comes out on top. It ain't ALL subjective.

I said nothing about battle rap that's just one aspect of the genre. Overall Black Thought is a better Hip Hop Artist/Rapper and you can most certainly determine that by comparing their mic skill, lyrics, songs, etc.
