Disliking a film and having valid reasonings for disliking it isn’t “bitching and moaning” …it’s a discussion, that’s what happens on a forum.

Vice was terrible, but that doesn’t dictate what they could or couldn’t be inspired by.

Maybe it’s just a “coincidence” doubt it but who knows

yeah but do we have to hear y'all b**** about something not living up to the hype that you choose to read all the reviews or trailers or lead up forever? How long do y'all grieve hype? The only reason this came up again is because it won awards. We don't control the awards. For some of us it lived up to hype because we set reasonable expectations , went in blind and didn't expect the coming of christ. If you notice things are consistently not living up to hype for you then perhaps you aren't setting realistic expectations

Don’t do that cus I’m not sitting here shaming y’all for liking the film, I’m just discussing why I dislike it and why I don’t connect wit the points y’all made. It's just very odd that out of all the films that have dealt with these themes, this is the one people have latched onto. It isn't even the first American-made Asian-led film in the past 5 years to deal with them, it might not even be the second.

People keep falling back on being able to relate to it, and that's okay, but there's very clearly something more at play here that a lot of lovers of this film for some reason won't admit. People can list out other films that have dealt with the same things and you can in turn say, "I didn't like that" or "I related to this more"... that's completely fine, but I can't believe that it's because this film simply does those things better. This film does feel like a Disney film, it has similar qualities to MCU films, it's fine to admit that, I love the MCU... I don't know why there's such a need for people to argue against it.

Everything is subjective, I'm out here fighting for my life with Babylon while most of this section thinks it's pretentious trash, idk man I need sleep.

i knew nothing about this movie going in. Only saw little bit of the trailer. From what i saw, it was looking like a "weird" movie.

also we are on a forum and we are bored enough to argue about a movie. We are having a discussion. I b**** about stuff on here because im bored and i like to argue about stupid s***.

But like I already said movie was best with an audience that f***ed with it in theaters. Premiere seeing it was dope. Seeing it with people I cared about who have also been through generational trauma dope. I understand y'all not f***ing with it. I get that. That doesn't change my enjoyment of it. I haven't been like "rewatch it maybe you will like it this time". I saw at premiere before the twitter, social media hype for most part.

I liked Cloud Atlas. We aren't going to all like the same movies but the whole "this aint kubrick" "this been done before" "rick and morty " "marvel movie" gonna get a response because it is highly reductive to just say its those things. when none of that s*** gets a response from me .

For a lot of people it’s the only movie they’ve seen out of India
That might be the case for me
I thought it was fun, but a bit hollow whenever there wasn’t an action scene
