This movie isn't even that deep or anything tho tbh
I feel like the Farewell does a better job at dabbling in multiple genres & exploring the themes of familial relationships and how they shape our lives, legacy, & the "meaning" of life

I think this ended up winning for the same reason Jeanne Dielman would up topping the Sight and Sound top 100 films oat list.
The voting pool is finally diversified and the POC and women that have been (rightfully) sick of white man dominating for a century overcompensated and swung the pendulum a little too far the other way.
Theyāre sick of them dominating but their choices arenāt better in the slightest.
