On first view 7.5/10 or maybe an 8
I think I was caught in the hype wayyyy too much and went in with unrealistic expectations from seeing everyoneās reviews. I definitely wanna watch it again and hopefully itāll grow on me.
The last time I seen a movie this hyped up was Parasite and from the first watch I loved every minute of that movie and understood right away why it was sooo hyped up.
The movie before that was probably Get out. Everyone hyped it to the max and when I finally seen it my first reaction was āmeh it was cool I guessā but then after another viewing it grew on me more. I feel like this movie might be in the same boat for me.

damn real I was too scared to give it a 7.5 cause everyone was saying this a 9-10 and also felt like I was betraying my Asians but thatās why I said 8 at best but 7.5 if im being truly honest

Word. Some of the conversations towards the end seemed a little too on the nose. Or maybe Iām being harsh on the dialogue

I suppose if you look at it that way.
I be understanding that line of thinking and where it comes from but for a movie like this that is so heavily entrenched in emotional resonance, I feel like little nitpicks like that is kind of missing the point in a sense.
Like yeah you could say this joke doesn't work here, or this line is kind of silly, but I feel like it all comes together really well. Was a refreshing watch for me amidst all these reboots, franchises and just generally cynical movies we got coming out.
And as pretty interesting change of pace to what A24 usually does

Iām not saying the trope itself was bad just some of the actual dialogue was a little cliche in those moments. Idk I think they could of sold it better.
