  • A film about nothing

  • Saw it last night. One of the best biopics of this decade. 8/10

I like Matt Johnson as much as the next person, but for me it's a battle between intent and final product

It's unquestionably a very watchable coming of age story, but would I call it a "good" Bourdain biopic or even a Bourdain biopic at all? Outside of the end, the whole story could have applied or happened to literally anyone. I thought it lacked a lot of personality which doesn't necessarily make it a bad movie, but does make it not totally live up to its billing imo

These are my same concerns I enjoyed it but basically he was just a h**** clumsy dude who learned how to cook a little . Felt more like a sadfie movie than a full biopic

the matt johnson interview on big picture today is good. people kinda let the narrative of 'matt basically made his own s*** up, put it in a less covered bourdain era and made his own movie. he doesn't really know or care about bourdain' go too far. he read every bourdain book, moved to provincetown and spoke to everyone there thats alive that knew him, and put a lot of those stories and details in the movie

the leo woudall character irl did f*** a bride on her wedding night

  • Great soundtrack. I rolled my eyes so hard at the CIA bit. Hated almost all the characters. Banderas is a national treasure. 3/5

Not getting this hype on this one. Also just found out so many of the major plot points were just made up? The romance sucked

    Pretty good
Kinda forgot he was playing Bourdain apart from the bent neck all the time.
His dad looked about 5 years older than him, like I thought his friend was just picking him up in the car.
Need Stavros and the handsome guy from Tuner in every movie.
The real chef they showed at the end looked just like Oscar Isaac’s.
