I feel the same, good cover is just a bonus.
I think it does affect perception of an album tho and can make people lean into hating it if there’s a bad cover

Yeah but if you have a real stinker such as that recent Thug album cover it can def affect your perception going in for a listen (doesn’t help when the album is just as ass as the cover too)

idk, for me cover art speaks volumes. the overall presentation of an album (cover art and beyond) can be a good sign of how much the artist themselves care about the product. especially if it’s a big record making it onto physicals
