I do think that when an artist pivots to a style of music they don't normally do, they often don't put as much effort into doing an interesting version of that sound and sort of coast on 'Hey! It's ME doing THIS!' instead of thinking like an artist who's been working in that lane for a long time
This is a really valid criticism, and I still totally f*** with this song. But I really get this take and can even see it with the song. Iām someone who comes from basically growing up on alternative / emo / indie / hardcore etc, I didnāt really develop a relationship with hiphop until senior year of highschool (Iām early 30s now). While I just generally f*** with Rocky, and I like what heās doing here it does sort of just feel like indie-rock-lite.
That being said, sometimes an artist just does something simple and it can work. This is a case of that for me, but yeah - definitely not mind blowing at all if you come from this world of music

this is what I was trying to say earlier. I realize I came through with the odee hyperbole and itās something Iām working on. But yeah thatās what Rocky has been like to me these last few years honestly.
Testing was solid
It had joints I really enjoyed but I felt like it shouldāve been so much better from all the snips and the quality of alla
I worked at a club during that songs peak and literally every night for months everyone was screaming āgirl I know you want this dihā
You were def not outside
Ok
You had me until you got to the TESTING slander
Itās a fine album but nowhere near alla
Well its my favorite one and Im not stuck in nostalgia
From you itās a take Iāll respect I still think alla is his best though
literally only weak song on testing is distorted records

i can agree to those songs maybe being debatable but i dont see rocky drifting too far away from his classic sound on the other ones
literally only weak song on testing is distorted records
i fw heavily with distorted records
as a huge fan of cover arts, i absolutely hate this creative direction and already making assumptions about the quality of the album but ima listen
I seen way too many paid promos and bot comments for this single alone. We are in a dark ages with this s***.
