FriesI do think that when an artist pivots to a style of music they don't normally do, they often don't put as much effort into doing an interesting version of that sound and sort of coast on 'Hey! It's ME doing THIS!' instead of thinking like an artist who's been working in that lane for a long time

This is true, but it also doesnāt mean that every time an artist dabbles in another genre that it has to be some super authentic and 100% accurate take on it, at the end of the day itās their interpretation of the genre
