This has to be the weakest Rocky album. 3 listens deep and I feel like I’m done tbh

Album was a whole lot of nothing over good production.

He flexing that his baby mama is Rih, while also referring to her as a b**** to get his lick back. I think he looks super corny for it though. He would have been better off not doing that, but I guess that was an ego thing.

One would think he might have matured more from his relationship with her, ups and downs in that, becoming a father, going through some legal stuff... like there was bunch of s*** he could have tried to tackle imo.

lots of cool artistic swings here at least with production, seems to mostly pay off for me but Rocky is the least interesting part of this album unsurprisingly

Yeah, production delivered but not Rocky. That was my feeling as well.

Respond to what I said instead of going at me personally.

And I have listened to Rocky music for at least +15 years to know something about it.

  • This is his best body of work probably since the original tape. And although I do enjoy at long last and some of the debut album as well as some of what he did on testing, this makes that version of Rocky feel like an artist who was still searching for himself. Here though, he knows exactly who he is and he knows exactly what he wants to say and it shows in all the finer details of this album. S*** I feel like you could only appreciate if you’re an active student of the game and not just a passive consumer of performative aesthetics masquerading as substance. I always knew Rocky was someone who sincerely cared about the art and the craft, despite maybe even what his overall Image might convey, it’s why I always appreciated him as an artist and I don’t think his love for this s*** has ever been made any more apparent then on this record.

The writing on this album was good my main issue (and a big one) is his mic presence

    Hm in what ways?

I think he tends to trail off and have a pretty weak voice profile these days compared to stuff like ALLA and LLA

Not saying I don’t like him having some more biting and melodic inflections than back then (Playa for example) but idk why he lets himself waver on the mic a lot

nothing personal about what I said it’s just incredibly easy to deduce, guy is rapping about his life all throughout this in a simple but clear way, that’s not “not saying anything”
