I just turned 28 yesterday, and I've been there since the early Awful Records days and still listen to Carti. I'm pretty sure OG KTT is what put me on when Nokia by Father first dropped, and I was tapped into Awful Records ever since. I remember when By Myself came out, but it wasn't till the summer of 2015 when I first started to really f*** with Carti. I had a comp of all his loosies from OG KTT. My grandma was selling her country house and me and my close friend were helping her clean and moving everything out. I was either listening to that Carti comp on shuffle or Superunknown by Soundgarden that whole time we were out there all summer. I always wondered if people who were there during those days, if they even still f*** with Carti like that. LuiDiamonds, ABRA and Keith were who I really f***ed with from that group and obviously Father. I bet you if were to show a new age Carti fan a Slug Christ video and tell them that Carti was in a group with him and they have a song together, they would think you're trolling.

Since this is a Rocky thread tho I wanted to share that, if I remember correctly, my mom is actually who put me onto Rocky when Peso first came out and was gaining traction. For context, my parents were really young, and my mom was 15 when she had me. So, growing up they were obviously my parents but really young ones and were "hip" to the newer music, fashion trends, etc.

(Edit: this isn’t an exaggeration either: I’ve literally never met anyone in my life who can’t freestyle off the top on a level similar to Rocky which is a very low level, to be clear) For me that’s not the bar for being an MC, that’s the bare minimum bar for even being a human being in my eyes. I do respect that he was willing to do that on radio but cmon, if he was an MC it should translate to his music. What song is his best performance as a true MC? It doesn’t exist to my knowledge. Where’s the storytelling song where’s the concept song? It don’t exist because his only way to succeed was to tell us how pretty he is on the mic. We gotta be honest here dude is a fraud

I agree. By the time Die Lit came out, to tell you the truth, I didn't really care for Carti anymore. It wasn't till the WLR v1 leaks and snippets started to come out like kidcudi* (Pissy Pamper) and Molly that I was like okay I need to tap back in, and I went back and listened to Die Lit.
