Reception has little to no impact on first week sales.
You can think any way about that album, but mentioning that sort of factor when it comes to sales is irrelevant.

Y'all wanna bring up TESTING sales as if the only reason that album sold 75K first week is because Rocky did NO physicals of that album.
That mistake cost him because pure sales made up so much of his previous record sales.
Not to mention it getting overshadowed by the Drake/Pusha beef.
its because at long last asap was dropped before streaming was how it is now. Plus rocky dropped fire singles leading up to this. No one was gonna do those numbers again unless they did that bundle s*** like travis did. People just didn't mess with testing like that.

talent has nothing to do with it rocky has a strong cult fanbase and has for years with a whole crew around him and is liked and respected by all his peers and ogs. Plus has major bags outside of music clearly. Hes good.

From what I'VE seen when it comes to the transition into the streaming era is that an artist who sold a lot in pure sales before then would still sell a decent amount after the fact.
I think he would've sold more because of that, but having no physicals still hurt him nonetheless.

I'll be the first one to say that, as frantic and cryptic that the rollout for that album was as someone who paid attention to it at the time, it was very flawed.
He really killed his own momentum by doing so. That's why I think bringing up TESTING's sales without giving context to it is such a bullshit argument lol
