AI stem splitting is cool and useful tbh i agree it's like the only acceptable use of AI in music personally

All this does is muddy the conversation

When it comes to the AI discourse, no one is talking about stem splitting

It might as well be a whole separate thing. In my eyes, it is. I would never bring up stem splitting in a conversation about AI in music because it is so obviously not the focal point of discussion or contention.

So using “but stem splitting good so AI good sometimes” as a devils advocate argument for AI just makes the worse parts of AI seem more acceptable or gives it a pass if people make AI generated songs and lyrics because “well at least splitting stems is cool” lol

    Good statement from Rocky

Politely stated that he's against using generative ai himself.
Separated Generative from Assistive & he managed to bring up Tyga & that lame Fenix guy without just straight up dissing em even though it's clear that he meant by mentioning em

  • i like how he says "who am i to judge?" and then makes sure to say he does music practically, "the right way".

    send those shots rocky

that’s why the wording needs to be more clear: people are against Generative AI, not AI itself

Did you delete the Doechii thread yet or is TDE paying you to keep it open

It’s because it isn’t generative (as far as I’m aware)

ive seen some that do "upsampling" which i believe is generative but it's not very common

This is neat, what song sampled this?

Lmaoo niggas want mfs to not make endless beats with this type of s*** or let Imogen Heap’s master rights holders take all my money as opposed to some s*** like this

It’s very easy to not use AI

Until its time to release a project with all those samples and you’re not a major label artist and DistroKid decides to sell to a new company so you can no longer go with “small artists can get away with not clearing samples” because your distributor’s new ownership disagrees lmao

Cue people complaining about beats all sounding like the same rageslop or Atlantatrapslop

There are many artists on this site that are liberal with samples without

    B. Using generative AI

One doesn’t “have” to use AI and I rarely do in my beats because of all the hooplah around it, don’t want to have my whole s*** discredited for being open to experimentation and Suno uses a watermark now

I shouldn’t have even responded to your other post under that premise of “needing” AI. But yeah sample-wise there should be no stigma on AI samples especially for upcoming artists who literally can’t clear samples most of the time

Nigga I’m telling you upcoming artists can clear samples 99% of the time if you wanna justify your use of AI, don’t use some bullshit excuse like that

    1. Anecdotally saying every artist who used Distrokid with uncleared samples is a small amount of songs

    2. Ignoring where I said I personally prefer to not use AI in most of my beats because of the mindless b****ing and moaning people do about AI like you’re doing now lol and above all else Suno watermarks that s*** now and imo quality wise f***ed up their model after some s*** with WMG or UMG

    3. Changing what you said from it not being an issue at all to now “a small amount of songs” (see #1 lol)

Yes it’s not an issue where you’re gonna have to pivot to using AI
