title is crazy
Y’all just be online mad asf
Just need someone to explain what regular people in Israel not being able to watch Beyoncé's new movie would help in any way at all?
Look at the treatment of regular civilians in Russia and ask yourself the same question.
taylor swift afaik doesn't use black revolutionary/militant aesthetics in her performances and music tho, she's purposely apolitical
sure it won't stop Israel from droppping bombs tomorrow. But you could've said the same thing about the cultural boycott of South Africa in the apartheid era
whether a musician likes it or not, a performance in Israel often takes on a political dimension when it wouldn’t elsewhere. Israeli politicians and diplomats have often been quick to make political capital out of a musician’s decision to play there, like when Gilan Erdan, Israel’s strategic affairs minister, told CNN “we salute Radiohead” when they pressed on with their show. When Nick Cave decided to perform despite protestations from the likes of Pink Floyd’s Roger Waters, Israel Foreign Ministry spokesperson Emmanuel Nahshon wrote on Twitter, “Bravo Nick Cave for resisting BDS!”
“An artist’s politics and personal view of the Israeli government matter little once they’ve agreed to perform in Israel,” says PACBI’s Stephanie Adam. “The Israeli government will endorse their performance and use it to undermine Palestinians’ non-violent resistance to Israel’s occupation, colonisation, and apartheid policies."
Dazed
Taylor Swift did a whole documentary whose theme was her “political awakening” lol
Either way, it doesn’t matter. Beyoncé, Taylor, or anyone else aren’t obligated to talk about a 70 year conflict in Asia, no matter how much some people online think. Israel/Palestine is not the center of the world.
According to BDS, if it is out of their hands in terms of how/where the film is distributed, then they should at least publicly condemn Israel's war crimes
They haven't condemned s*** and they're showing the films in Israel. Even if it can be proven that it's out of their control wrt distribution, they're still not speaking out as they profit off of a genocidal regime
They're still supporting genocide atm and the damn BDS movement has said as much. What cognitive dissonance are you going to use to justify this at this point?
When will this get moved out of msxn. seriously.

If you come to art expecting escapism, then you aren’t coming for art
Art is a mirror held up to the real world
Internet would never tear a white artist down over this.
Does that make a non-white artist doing it acceptable?
Does reinforcing one form of racism (anti-Arabism) help to dissolve another form of racism?

they rather play race wars on the internet than actually have any sort of constructive conversation to avoid the topic at hand.

It's fine to point out the double standard
Taylor should be getting grilled for this too, and more so than Beyonce particularly because she's a white person reinforcing a white supremacist regime, and she's more popular than Beyonce
So go grill them both? Shame people who don't grill them both if they decide to grill only Beyonce. Sure it's still corny to only grill Taylor rather than both her and Beyonce, but it's way more harmful for Taylor to be doing what she's doing than Beyonce in terms of scale and sociological underpinnings.
Doesn't absolve either of them from making money off of an actively genocidal regime that receives popular support from said genocide from its citizens.
There's no coherent argument against grilling Beyonce for this. There is a coherent argument against exclusively grilling her.
It's wild to me that people would get mad about condemning a businessperson for doing this right now, such as Beyonce lol
I can see why you yourself may not feel strongly about it and may not want to comment on it, and I don't think ignoring this topic makes you inherently "anti-Arab" or something, but if you're attacking people for being pissed about this you're legit insane
