The House Is Burning>Mr Morale
In for new Soulo
Hell nawl
He ain’t new That’s clippin jimmy
Damn Clippin Jimmy came back with a fire alt, I gotta respect it
Ahhh ok
Well can’t say I agree on most of it but you articulated your opinion in a respectable way and if it’s not for you, that’s ok. It’ll probably be different the next time around like all of his albums are.
I mean to balance it out a bit, there are def moments of greatness throughout the album like always with Dot. And truthfully i wouldn’t be so harsh on the project if it was dropped by a newcomer
He experimented a lot, i can respect it. But bottom line is, most of the time the experiments didn’t have an outcome that sounded satisfying to me
Just skimmed through the album again just to confirm my feelings, and i must say the production is actually more on point then i remember. So i feel like my issues lie moreso with Kendricks performance, delivery etc or the way he chose to tackle the music

And that’s alright to have that opinion. Yea the majority liked it but it definitely was divisive in nature and I could see why the more experimental aspects didn’t land with you. That’s ok.
I think the big issue for you is the Baby Keem influence which is on the album and if you don’t like that dude that’s definitely going to taint things for you.
I’m bout to shed real nigga tears
it’s been a wait fam
i thought this day will never come again
LETS GOOOOOOOOOO
DWTW top 5 albums in the last decade.
I regard Crowley and his religion of Thelema as misunderstood and full of interesting knowledge. And i have huge respect for his influence on the Western Magickal Tradition and esoteric teachings in general
So on paper DWTW should have been a dream come true for me, such an interesting theme for an album
But overall it was a letdown for me personally, production sounded wayyyy too stripped back and dark and Soulo’s subject matter didn’t come together as well as it did on Control System. Still lowkey mad he chose that album to do the DWTW theme and then butchered a lot of important nuances that comes with the territory
Always felt like Soulo sounded like he was depressed AF in that era and misguided, and the recent singles seem to confirm that
This new album tho, will be a return to form for the goat
Thank u for coming to my tedtalk
SOS not dropping December after all Dafuq is going on with that label
You know what's going on...
Flopdawg Entertrainwreck
This is facts. I still go back to OD, S80, GKMC, TPAB, DAMN regularly but I find myself skipping most of Mr Morale. Definitely some of the worst songs on a Kendrick album
Your name and pfp
But it also has some of his best work too with songs like
United In Grief
Worldwide Steppers
Father Time
Count Me Out
Crown
Savior
Mother I Sober
Yeah it has a couple skips but so did DAMN.
Off that list, I'd only really put 3 up there in Kendrick's discography Personally wouldn't say Crown and Mother I Sober is some of his best work at all, they're just not enjoyable to listen to. DAMN has two songs I just really don't fw at all, Morale has more
These are all opinions though. There's no such thing as an objective "skip", I just agree with that poster when he says he didn't feel the album and its kinda all over the place thematically

Mother I Sober not top tier???
Out of all of the songs on that list, that’s the #1 for me. You’re crazy for that one.

Again, not enjoyable to listen to. The beat is really minimalistic, there's not really any wordplay for you to catch. It's just him straight relaying his experiences, it's like Wilshire by Tyler
If you're asking me to put that song against Money Trees, These Walls, Poe Mans Dreams, Sherane, Kush and Corinthians, HMADC - it's losing everytime and its not even close

Won’t try to convince you differently because that’s just a waste of time but that song is a very moving experience for me everytime I sit with it. I don’t listen to it all the time just like Sing About Me because of the heaviness factor, but when I do listen to it, it has the same profound impact on me that it had on first listen.
So I cannot understand your opinion and even shake my head irl at the thought but you do you I guess. You aren’t wrong for simply having that opinion.
lol @ the 3 "likes" agreeing with you.
"Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers" easily laps "The House is Burning" and it's not even close. Isaiah Rashad is just not on Kenny's level.
im convinced a good bit of this site skimmed the project or just outright have some sort of agenda out for kendrick, ive never seen so much unjustified hate for a project before

Both better than every J. Snore album

I understand the distaste for it. It’s divisive and a pretty heavy listen. Some people were not ready for something that felt so confronting in nature.
However, DAMN was not well received by everyone when it first dropped either and now people have no problem putting it alongside S80, GKMC & TPAB. It’ll be no different when the next Kendrick album drops for people to criticize and they’ll act like Mr. Morale was great all along.
If Mr. Morale was truly disliked and a miss by the majority, the tour wouldn’t have been so successful. We saw what happened when an actually bad album tried to do an arena tour with The Big Day
