A voice like this is better alive than dead imo

However at the same time I’d argue his voice by doing this has been louder than millions of others protesting.

    RIP. Horrific way to go

to be fair, the point of this extreme act of protest is because he felt he didn't have a voice, and that his words would only matter in sacrifice

These Christians don't know the history they claim to abide by

Palestine and in general, the Levant still has an active Christian community and they have been historically active inside the various Palestinian mvmts, whether in civil society or militancy

George Habash was a choir boy as a kid

While I do concede that Shia Islam is the dominant religious force in Palestine (particularly Gaza) for various reasons, it is a multi-faith movement and the Palestinian population seems quite secular in itself

word a community that has survived wave after wave of change nonetheless

The thing with these people is if he died in a senseless war they would call him a hero. But because he died standing against the empire and it's complicity, he has "severe mental issues".

  • died a hero. will be remembered longer and more fondly than anyone calling him mentally ill

    🟢 Hamas:

We in the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) express our heartfelt condolences and our full solidarity with the family and friends of the American pilot Aaron Bushnell, whose name has been immortalized as a defender of humanitarian values and the plight of the oppressed Palestinian people who are suffering due to the U.S. administration and its unjust policies, like the American activist Rachel Corrie who was crushed by a zionist bulldozer in 2003 in Rafah, the same city for which Bushnell paid for with his life to pressure his country's government to prevent the criminal zionist army from attacking it and committing massacres and violations in it.

The administration of US President Joe Biden bears full responsibility for the death of the American military pilot Aaron Bushnell due to its policy that supported the Nazi zionist entity in the genocide war against our Palestinian people, as he gave his life in order to highlight the massacres and zionist ethnic cleansing against our people in the Gaza Strip.

The heroic pilot Aaron Bushnell will remain immortal in the memory of our Palestinian people and the free people of the world, and a symbol of the spirit of global humanitarian solidarity with our people and their just cause.

The tragic incident that cost pilot Bushnell his life is an expression of the growing anger among the American people who reject their country's policy that contributes to the killing and genocide of our people, and rejects their government's violation of global humanitarian values, by providing cover to ensure the impunity of the Nazi entity and its leaders from punishment and accountability.

Dammit man. How long till people run with "Terrorists endorse Aaron Bushnell".

    Blood boiling.

  • People are talking about media censorship, but this is way more reporting than Willem van Spronsen received in 2020

Armed with a semiautomatic rifle, authorities say, van Spronsen crept onto the grounds of a sprawling immigration jail, set his car on fire, tossed Molotov cocktails and died in a hail of police bullets.

"Detention camps are an abomination," van Spronsen wrote. "I'm not standing by."

We're way quicker to celebrate martyrdom as a call to action rather than the action itself.

I can't diminish his acts but on another note how does self immolation even help? If he was suicidal but also down for the cause wouldn't organizing and spreading the word do better than setting yourself on fire? Because the people that NEED to hear this are just going to call him crazy.

self immolation is a desperate last act of protest, the people who need to hear this weren't listening and so he felt compelled to use his life as a way to build interest and understanding in the Palestinian genocide

sadly, simply talking, protesting and spreading the word isn't good enough and hasn't worked in bringing awareness into the United States culpability in the genocide, and so he felt the only thing he had left was to do this

  • the real question is, will people act and listen now? and i don't think we will, because world powers are not governments "for the people, by the people" they are greedy, selfish tyrants punishing helpless civilians for daring to go against the zionist agenda

so how can we really help if our own governments wont listen to us?

The thing I'm saying is if he was willing to go that far, he wasn't willing to take actual arms up against the government in the name of his cause?

i understand where you're coming from but i think he wanted to make a powerful statement, and a guy running off to join hamas isn't really gonna make waves, they'll just call him a traitor and be done with it, and one more body isn't going to help palestinians anyway

an active duty member of your own countries air force killing themselves publically because of your actions is a much more damning statement

If the thing you're protesting is violence against people, idk if raising arms against people is the move you want to make. The guy was IN the military, so it'd be his boys that he's rising arms against.

  • RIP , died a hero.
Self immolation is rough to witness. He was yelling Free Palestine till the very end. This hits hard
