Man f*** guns we need to do better as a country taking care of our kids. We r well beyond just banning guns we gotta discuss why these kids feel the need to do s*** like this

Are they just crazy from the get go? Is it family/social issues? Either way we need to be more mindful of how ppl r doing n stop being so cliqueish

i think it's a mix of compounding factors that expand far beyond just the kids themselves. the kids have to deal with an increased level of social stress and increasingly less boundaries because of the internet/social media and s***, which has caused mass social stratification. then kids have everyone telling them the world is ending 24/7, and that's not even getting into the politics of things. being think "radicalization" is just a political thing but it's not. people can be "radicalized" to believe that their lives are meaningless and the world is against them or ending for completely apolitical reasons, and this is getting far more common thanks to social media, 24/7 news, a broken education system, and increasingly stratified social and economic classes. plus kids get run off from their parents. parents have to worry about debt, ballooning college debts/etc for their kids (or ignoring it), s***ty work lives/conditions, and an increasingly deteriorating societal floor accented by the same news cycles as their children, just to name a few. plus there's the psychology of copy-cat crimes. people see school shootings and see the hyper-glamorization of mass shooters combined with these online and offline circles (because the barriers are being broken at this point) which reaffirm this as being the only way out of being some kind of broken loser. you see memes and s*** about suicide and depression 24/7 but this s*** is real and kids don't just want to kill themselves they want to take out people with them they feel are responsible for their misery. it sucks.

Yea man it's a very deep and complicated issue, I just think if people make an effort to understand respect and ultimately appreciate each other u will see so many social issues slowly evaporate. People need space to be who they are and we do a good awful job of fostering that in America. Itsok if we have some social/financial stratification, but at this point the culture is extremely oriented towards self preservation and parasitism, people are raised to believe they have to compete with others and those ppl are strangling the earth itself

i agree. i think the issue is that there's no cultural meaning for anything anymore. everything has fallen into a void of cultural nihilism. people used to be okay working hard jobs or taking care of kids or other things because they felt it had meaning. of course they struggled and were not perfect but they believed in a system or culture that superseded the politics and issues of the time. but there's just a void there for many adults and it's been further emphasized for kids. the dream is dead for so many people and they don't think there was ever a dream to begin with. it's why so many nazis and similar are coming back at the same time as these school shooters and s***. they aren't related inherently but they're two extreme reactions to the void of nihilism in our culture.

Big facts man. It seems like tribalism is returning in a sense thru the internet among other things.

to be fair maybe if ppl knew about the gravity of the situation they would be contributing to +100, +50 years ago and how it would relate to us now, a healthy sense of existential dread and impending doom may have done the world good.

at this point with climate change and other s*** of the like it well may be too late, in which case these feelings are totally naturally in a cultural sense

existential dread and evaluation of modern problems are normal, but that is not really my point. I'm not saying these things shouldn't exist. I'm saying that in the past, there were things which essentially superseded these feelings and helped create societal stability. these things have completely disappeared in a separate trajectory and as a result we're seeing the consequences en masse.
