re-watched with the fam. they loved it. i thought it was a 6/10 but watching it with them was such an enjoyable experience i'd bump it to a 7.
as i said earlier, if mckay made this an hour 40 and tightened some of the jokes, it would have been a classic.

i don't hate it as much as some people but i don't love it either. and i'm a massive adam mckay fan-- the big short was the first movie i ever saw high lmao and it was wild. i was like 15

He’s in it for literally two scenes. Combined, he has less than maybe 6 minutes of actual screen time.

Overall though, I thought the movie was an entertaining watch. The message feels a little overkill at some points, and for what the movie is trying to accomplish I think it was a little too long for it’s own good, but I still liked it and thought there were some funny scenes and the cast all gave great performances

Pretty much agree with this. Definitely a fun movie to watch with ppl who aren’t overly film critics and just enjoy fun movies.

I’d give it a 7/10 tho or even 7.5

Shorten the time length
Fix the editing and then it’d easily bump up to an 8

Regardless of whether we like or dislike the movie I think we can all agree it doesn’t deserve this Golden Globe noms

Will this movie be good to watch with drinks?

In the scene where the BASH CEO pulls the president out of the situation room, I thought he was going to sabotage the mission and blow up humanity’s last hope on television with the whole world as witness (Reminiscent of 9/11, or more so the Challenger explosion). Then he’d use the mass trauma (as detected by those BASH phones) to profit in some way. I really thought they were gonna go full false flag there, but they didn’t :/

the movie couldve done without the leo dating the news lady part but it was alright. it seemed self aware of itself but didnt really seem to care

the worst part is that it punches down on the people it should be trying to reach out to in typical hollywood fashion

I ended up watching Spider-Man homecoming for first time instead
