First one im not crazy about

Outside of what some have heavily discussed in regards to a "lack of authenticity" from this new era of Addison's based on her past or whatever, I don't see what is the artistic merit in making—assumedly based on the five singles released so far—a project which is just a wide-ranged grabbag of yesteryears Pop music?

The music isn't awful, but none of it is at all convincing that this current iteration of Addison Rae isn't the byproduct of a tightly curated collective of creative directors?

What am I supposed to grasp by the singles so far that just brazenly jump from internet-approved subgenres of Pop/Electronic music with no real through line connecting them sonically together?

What am I supposed to learn about the new Addison Rae when the lyrics are just a collection of vaguely cool-sounding, breathily-delivered phrases with no real personal identity?

It's cool that she was able to latch on to some good producers and stylists, but I am really failing to see this whole thing as being HER.

I don't expect every popstar out the gate to be this fully-realized, Gaga-esque savant of a product in order for me to garner any sort of enjoyment from their music (Tate <3). However, I truthfully can only view every facet of Addison since the start of this era as a clearly performative, Pinterest-board slop of a concept which only exists to capitalize on this period in which semiotic branding is a must in order to become a "main pop girl."

Off first listen, I prefer the other 4 singles but this isn't a complete miss for me. Fun track. NEXT WEEK
