Yes, he purposely put himself in danger.

Yes, his use of humor in such a tragic situation was pretty s***ty (although could be written off as deflective behavior to mask his fear)

The worst offense imo is that he took up a spot on an evacuation plane that could have gone to someone more in need.

BUT he also added a unique perspective to the situation there, and likely made some folks care more about whats happening than they did when it felt like such a distant, "foreign" tragedy.
