Agreed. I enjoy the discussion and to be honest I don’t even like nirvana like that. Aic, soundgarden, Pearl Jam, stone temple pilots - I have listened to and enjoy all of these more than nirvana so I wouldn’t even say they were the best of their genre. That genres heyday barely lasted like half a decade… so not sure how op came to this conclusion

this thread has made me realize how much i would love for metal, punk, grunge, etc. bands to be on the billboard charts. thats something that made the 90s special.

you'd see michael jackson, nirvana, metallica, pearl jam and like mariah carey at the top of the charts lol the diversity and melding of pop music was really cool.

like imagine if a band like turnstile or magdalena bay was on top 40 radio. you would see such a increase in better music
