Ramones > Nirvana too
Hard agree
Grew up on the Weird Tales of Ramones 3 CD set and it had EVERYTHING
Once you're in there's no out with Ramones
Ramones > Nirvana too
I mostly listen to their live album. The energy is insane
You have a case with Prince And The Revolution tbh
They tryna say these bands don't count for some...strange reason. Could've fooled me. They were most definitely making rock music, so why can't they count?
your name is what i had in mind too but honestly its just glenn danzig being some sort of an alien or a cia agent like jim morrison was
also beach boys? nah. VU? theyre great but nah. and beach boys are amazing!
Jim Morrison was CIA??
I think Kurt kind of hated that his music just didn't connect with everyone, and the fact that Nirvana attracted "that" type of rock audience, that believed only "they" could enjoy that type of music. Would've been so interesting to see him break off from Nirvana.

No idea but he sure did love to write songs about teenage girls

Kinda cap it didn’t connect with everyone
Bonzo Goes to Bitburg, Merry Christmas (I Don't Wanna Fight)
Ramones cataloge is like Drake's how it doesn't stop
Okay who has it?
i'd prob make the case for velvet just off the combination of sheer quality + influence which way outlasted the life of the band tenfold
ngl there's also a lot of cases ppl would make for bands that'd be in that kind of "dad rock" category that i'm just not a fan of at all
like for example, i think ppl saying RHCP is way more valid than the doors lol
F*** it I'll take it even further. The best American rock bands are Prince & the Revolution, Funkadelic, Sly & the Family Stone, and The Isley Brothers.
I’m taking Nirvana over at least one of these

I think Jimi Hendrix And The Experience is closer to Nirvana then the Isleys are in terms of sounds.
For what it’s worth, I’m partial to the Byrds family tree of American jangle pop bands (REM, Big Star, etc) so I will always put the Byrds up there with the GOATs. That they pivoted and made an impact on country as well only helps their case.
where does steely dan fit in all this
That’s closer to jazz than rock lmao

Whole lotta hard rock and even psychedelic rock throughout their albums
