I was kind of confused about the takeaway when the movie ended, but it hit me like a f***ing truck after the credits rolled. Beautiful film

what was your takeaway
most boring film of the year
I only got 30 minutes into aftersun but this gives it a run for it’s money
what was your takeaway
specific takeaways from the characters aside, there were a few general ones that really stuck out to me. first and foremost, the significance of memories - both good and bad ones - and how they shape us into the individuals we are today. the most insignificant moments can stick with us for years because they occurred during a crucial period in our lives. also how we're able to pick up on other's subtle emotions during our adolescent years (Sophie as a child realizing something's wrong with Calum, but not being able to pinpoint what exactly) and how that can haunt us even during adulthood.

You're spitting like crazy
Just finished it. Slightly confused about the adult Sophie seeing her dad at a rave party. Did that actually happen or is that just in her mind? Also did he die? Got hints of him planning to kill himself. Almost felt like that vacation was his last hurrah before he left

Actually found a pretty good article about the movie. Don’t click if you don’t want to be spoiled

Yeah, this was unfortunately a dud for me. Felt like Sofia Coppola did this movie better years ago
