These are still done by humans. From the guides I’ve seen, it’s really not as simple as telling Claude “give me Spider-Man x Arkham Knight”. You need to have a decent baseline knowledge of coding and general mod development to make anything worthwhile

It’s the same as the regular mod scene imo. Some devs will put in the effort, some won’t. The advantage ai gives to talented modders/decomp devs is assisting with things that would normally take years and allowing them to get it out in weeks instead.

The mods actually gaining traction here are being made by the same actual humans you’re referring to, but now they’re using AI. It’s not randoms with zero experience.

If there was some profit incentive then I’d probably agree with you on the critique of them being lazy. But these are hobbyists. They’re modding for free in their spare time.

The explosion of VR mods is a great illustration of that. Really prominent members of the modding community, that have been around for years, are releasing VR conversion mods at an insane rate. They aren’t crappy vibe coded mods.

hmmm there is a bit of issue with it. The Halo browser version is just ai vibe coded s*** that barely functions half the time. Plus I don't think anyone has though about security issues when it comes to online playing. It's going to be interesting to see what develops after this.
