Things that are irrelevant now because Drake fans say so:

    Pulitzers
    Grammys
    Headlining Festivals
    Super Bowl Half Time performances
Rap battles that you win with a bop. (Kenny vs Drake)
Rap battles that you don’t win with a bop (Pusha vs Drake)
Videos of predatory behavior where victim says it’s ok
A number one record on billboard
    A joint tour.
Feature verses where you diss another rapper
Albums that get critical acclaim from white people
Albums they don’t personally hear “outside”

He got his initial fame with a good song that was backed by Lil Wayne who got him through another person, not because he was on a damn TV show

Genuinely gotta be slow if you don’t think he got his initial fame from being on one of the longest running n most popular Canadian shows he starred in for almost a decade.

    Nah we were all there

Wayne was in jail and Drake was getting massively promoted and boosted through 106 & Park as well as Cole since f***ing 2007 gang

Nigga headlines was the video of the day/week for like 6 months

So much so he was still doing 106 & Park takeovers all the way up to Nothing Was the Same. And that’s just some of the MAJOR industry love and push Drake got to start his career. Idk where this revionism is coming from

This is how they were talking about Drake, in the industry, in 2007

    with ONE bubbling hot song

Drake’s breakthrough single, “Replacement Girl” featuring Trey Songz is currently being pushed across all major formats (radio, television and internet) and is garnering critical and mainstream love. The video premiered on BET’s 106 & Park last Monday (April 30th, 2007) as “New Joint of the Day” and is currently in the running for one of the coveted top 10 spots on the 106 & Park countdown.

It's faster to just say Kendrick's accolades don't matter only inflated streams matter (but only if they aren't Kendrick's)

They weren’t even propping him next to Wayne until Young Money’s run and when he started doing them loosie features with Wayne late 2008 like ransom and s***

The nigga used an old Wayne verse on Comeback Season replacement girl was his first pop off. They need to stop it

it must kill drake stans inside that Kendrick beat Drake with a smash hit song

  • Jan 25

Actually, the biggest factor of Wayne and Drake’s relationship as Young Money’s run was ending was Miss Me which is pretty much Wayne handing the baton to Drake cause it was setup that Drake would hold it down while Wayne was in jail, the video deadass premiered on, you guessed it, 106 & Park, from where he ran away with it

But prior to that, for damn near 3 years and even after Wayne went to jail, he was the over pushed Drake that the oldheads couldn’t stop the industry from pushing. Stop it

Kanye? The guy with the most Grammys who has some of the highest rated albums of all time by the critics?

50 cent? The guy who came in the game signed to Dr Dre and was backed by Eminem, the biggest rapper of the time, had his own video games and had one of the best managers in music chris lighty?

Kanye pissed on his Grammy because he was mad that he wasn’t winning them anymore lol. He still submits all his albums to the Grammys to this day.

Diddy has multiple awards for his music and was propped up by the industry as a pop culture icon for like 30 years wtf are you talking about lol

“Drake has never been embraced by award shows or American media”

Like what are you even talking about bro

    🤣🤣🤣🤣

This all you got? Just admit, Kendrick is the industry darling. You clearly can’t substantiate otherwise.

I never said he wasn’t an industry darling. I said he isn’t any more or less of an industry darling than any other big artist signed to a major label

Kendrick doesn’t have some advantage that Drake doesn’t have. As a matter of fact he has chosen in specific times of his career to do what’s not financially beneficial for his career.

Imagine you making GKMC, DAMN and TPAB back to back to back and then they are comparing you to a nigga like Drake because of numbers.

He simply is better at making music and at rapping. And we saw that last year. Drake is incredible but when he stands next to a generational talent, he looks and acts normal.

I agree with you but even when he pivoted from GKMC to TPAB he received unanimous praise form almost every publication and award show.

The problem I have is people like Wally trying to act like there is some ulterior motive behind him being critically acclaimed beyond just the most simple explanation that people think he makes great music
