I started an independent project under my botany course in collaboration with the head of our herbarium

Botanists use vegetative characteristics to identify plants using keys and field guides. However, when it’s winter, deciduous trees don’t have these characteristics so they have to be identified with leaf scars, microscopy, vascular scars, bark color, twig shape, etc.

These guides mostly exist in New England and the larger east coast. They don’t exist in California because we have a much more evergreen ecosystem. Me, my project partner, and the head of the herbarium have built the first comprehensive field guide to winter-form deciduous plants in California. We’ve done something like 150 species across like 60 genera

It’s gonna be pretty foundational for botanists so they can continue work in the winter even if it’s super niche. We’re sending it to print next week!

Weird how all these Drake stans coming at Americana for "incest" (which wasn't actually incest) but they're quiet about TheGropeDivine actually defending Drake's inappropriate behaviour with a minor because it only happened once (and she was immediately proven wrong, there's video evidence of it happening multiple times)
