expectations don't always have to be tied to quality, i guess? like i could've expected a heavy R&B/love album from the title but that expectation wasn't matched.

Personal expectations of what the sound should be. If you expected an album full of bangers for example, but got all rnb. It wouldn’t mean the rap was bad, but the person would complain because it wasn’t what they wanted.
