To add to this, Drake almost seems like a victim of his own success. When he hit the scene in 09 he was ahead of his time in how he blended his music together. People may have a his assumption that was the starting point for something more but that’s really just who he was and who he is.
no boi-1da production on clb but he credited on donda hmm
boi-1da an opp?
some people finding out he really in the industry 😂
Victorious really just an incubator for the music industry
Man, the Drizzy subreddit is such an awful place
Full of Ye stans trashing the album with like 1k upvotes
CLB a classic, enough said
It's just too small compared to other subreddits so it always get brigaded, can't really find real opinions on there

reddit good for some chill niche subs but by and large anything music related is a nuclear wasteland of terrible takes
only good hiphop sub on reddit is r/hiphopcirclejerk 🤣
Walking my dog this this rn and this is just such a fun album with Drake doing what Drake does at the highest level. This idea that you have the reinvent the wheel on each album is a little ridiculous imo. There are greats who stayed in their relative lane and had HOF worthy careers
a lot of people want drake to be like a wild left field kendrick or kanye or something and hes just not that type of artist, but they desperately want to compare him to contemporaries or think he's a different artist than who he is. they forget artists like scarface or z-ro exist which are legends who kept in the same style and themes for their career, and no one ever really gave them s***. some artists have lanes and they get closer to mastering that lane instead of constantly experimenting, trying to expect everyone (especially a pop star crossover act) to be a full-on experimental artist is unrealistic. not everyone is going to be an Outkast and that's fine. I think Drake gets closer to perfecting his lane with each album and we should appreciate it for what it is in a vacuum. The truth is most artists who try to experiment outside the lane they're known for get s*** on for it, so it's also not surprising that Drake isn't trying to be someone he's not. Look at J Cole, he's tried to swap lanes and sure his fans kept with him, but he was universally s*** on until he swapped back to making more accessible music.

yeah most circlejerk subs are great because they mock the lames that take themselves so seriously on there lol

there's a thread in Drake sxn
“I even got the cleaning staff plotting extortion on me,
My parents divorce is on me, my therapist voice is making the choices for me,
And I always censor myself because no matter what they reporting on me, the pressure is weighing on me,
Career is going great but now the rest of me is fading slowly, my soulmate somewhere out in the world just waitin on me”

After listening to Not Around a million times that beat switch came out of nowhere and punched me in the face

Would be a 9.5/10 for me.
Im not connecting with Way 2 Sexy and Girls Want Girls. Some tracks are mid (Champagne Poetry, Papi’s home) but as a whole it’s a solid album. Definitely thought that Scorpions lows (Ratchet Happy Birthday, Summer games) was worse than this.
The production on this album is outstanding, perfect for the fall.
