Aging not the right word lol I meant getting better with every listen
Further proves my point tbh. That's the thing with Drake, he's a victim of his own versatility. If someone doesn't like r&b, they won't be satisfied/like a Drake project, cause a big part of them are usually r&b, same thing with pop, and you can even slice that with rap with the conscious stuff and banger/club stuff.
Yep, his versatility which is the reason for his success holds him back in terms of reception. If he makes an album catering to a certain group, then a lot of people won't like it because it has nothing for them. If he mixes them together, you'll have a lot of people saying "mid" because they only enjoy the part that appeals to them. He won't ever make everyone happy.
I actually think Scorpion was his attempt at pleasing everyone. The A and B sides were supposed to act as separate works for his rap and R&B fans, but it didn't work out and everyone took it as one album and said it was long and bloated.

Would’ve been interesting to see how the reception to scorpion changed if he released side A as an independent project and then released side B a couple months later. Kinda like Taylor swift did with evermore and folklore
I feel like this album isn’t as similar as a lot of people claim, even in terms of the message. Yes, he’s talking about his lifestyle and partying a lot but I think he’s framing it in a more regretful way on this project. He recognizes that he’s never found love and it’s because of the person he became after becoming famous.
