I think that level of hype is what killed that album. If that same material was just released in the standard flow of Drake music it probably would have been received a whole lot better. It’s the fact that it was anticipated for nearly 3 years (a year before IYRTITL even dropped) that made it feel like such a let down. The music was actually great in hindsight but that level of Hype is impossible to live up to. That’s exactly why he need to just go ahead and drop this s***. You Drake dawg. You don’t need hype. You goin do numbers regardless. If it’s finished let it go and let the music speak

i agree, the only way it works out for him if the hype reaches that level is if its his best album. im hoping it drops this month trust me. but if it doesnt we’ll get that views effect.

It was in response to the discussion about Views being a classic

Drake said 'its music to grow to' or something along those lines, and how much like Views, people will hate on it initially or whatever but over time they'll realise how important it was

Having said that I hope first reactions to this are very positive

Drake was so confident and excited talking about the album on IG live last year. Kind of worrying the album has inevitably changed a lot since then

Hopefully he’s still that confident and still has that NWTS muse he alluded to in the rap radar interview too. The only recent thing he’s said on the album is that “people will hate on it like they hated on views” although I get the point it’s that he gets over hated it’s not encouraging words 😭
