I blame the cover for the polarized reception of this album.

It’s psychological man. On a subconscious level. Humans are very simple creatures and judge things by their appearance. I get what he was tryna do but he got in the way of the music imo. The music on this album is phenomenal. No reason it shouldn’t be universally respected and appreciated.

If he had an aesthetically appealing cover and also showed a bit of restraint by cutting a few tracks that would fit better elsewhere I’m sure CLB would easily be his most universally beloved project since NWTS.

Drake is a master provocateur and that’s how he’s become the icon that he is but sometimes I wish he’d just let the music speak.

Everyone recognizes the iconic album cover instantly.

Emojis speak to the masses, and it's utilized on the cover in a tongue in cheek and tasteful way imo. Fits the title, fits Drake. Better than having one more face cover. Its a literal artpiece people!!!!

I wouldn’t use the word “mind controlled” lmao but yes people are sheep and make snap judgments about things before they even listen to what’s being presented to them. Myself included.

I thought it was trash when I first heard it and my hate for the cover was one of the biggest things fueling my disappointment with the project but after multiple listens I think the actual music is incredible and I have no idea wtf I was thinking.

I didn’t even give the music a chance because I had a bias against the cover and a bias against a longer Drake album because I expected something “cohesive” which is really just a buzzword critics like to throw around. This is how humans behave. No one wants to admit it tho because most people have huge egos and really think that they think for themselves but in reality they don’t.
